life is good today, life is good today. Emmy was dying to let off steam, she'd been working hard non-stop for the past three weeks straight, and hadn't stopped to take a break. Between visiting home, organizing Zeta's social events, her vast charity commitments, and her hefty course schedule for the semester, her spare time was little and far between. Now, it was finally Christmas break, and she and Soph had decided to come back to campus a few days before classes would be starting back up, to unwind and spend some time together. On their first night, they planned to meet up at a popular night club in San Francisco, Shimmer. Emmy dressed for the occasion in a flirty dress. The top was peach and fitted, with cut outs across the mid-section, and the bottom was orange and flowy. She styled her hair in loose curls, and wore natural makeup tones. She looked simplistically beautiful, and she knew it. As she walked out the door she couldn't help but glance at herself in the Zeta house's floor length mirror they kept by the door. She pursed her lips and struck several different poses, smiling and winking at herself before finally exiting the house. It didn't take long for her to hail a cab, naturally, and she made it to Shimmer in no time. She disregarded the line and marched straight over to the bouncer with a wide smile on her face. "Emmy. Emmerson. I should be on your list." She told him with a wink, knowing full well that he wouldn't find her name on his clipboard. He let her in none the less, and she called over her shoulder as she entered, "I've got a friend coming, blond, cute, her name's Sophia." She slipped further and further into the club, weaving between the bobbing bodies and stood near the bar, swaying subtly to the beat as she waited for her friend, and surveyed the crowd, looking for familiar faces and anyone who might peak her interest. life is good today, life is good today. template by FAY @ ED and HC stealing makes the baby Jesus cry.

Sophia sat infront of the mirror in her old bedroom finishing off her hair. It wasn't often that she got to visit her parents even though they didn't live that far away at all. The weekends that she did go and see them however were always enjoyable. There was nothing quite like being in your childhood home, your familiar room and ofcourse being around the ones you loved. The blonde was eager to get ready however. As much as she loved being home she hated being away from the Zeta sorority house. She was their leader, a responsibility Soph took very seriously.
Twenty minutes later and the girl was ready. Her face was dusted lightly with makeup, preffering to keep it simple and let her outfit do all the talking that evening. So, where was she headed? Shimmer, one of the best clubs near campus. Typically Sophia wasn't a huge party girl. Ironic since her house was notorious for throwing some of the best parties. Soph was a perfectionist though. She loved planning things and making sure everyone was having a good night, so much so that she often forgot to enjoy herself. That's why nights like these were very important for her.
Sophia had jumped at the chance when Emmy had told her they were going clubbing. If Emmy was there, Soph would be too and chances were a bunch of other Zeta's would be too. A few cocktails, some dancing and maybe some harmless flirting. Spending time with her girls was her favourite thing. As President of the sorority Soph liked to keep the whole sisterhood tradition going. Once a Zeta, always a Zeta. That was her motto. Tonight would be great, she could tell. After all the hard work the girl needed a good night out and a chance to remember that she was still young.
Parking around the corner from the club Soph had a feeling that she'd have to go back for her car the next day. Excitment coursed through her body as she approached the familiar club, ignoring the massive line that was now forming. Usually she wouldn't be as arrogant as to cut to the front of the line but Shimmer always had a soft spot for the Zeta girls. Probably because they brought in the most business. She'd only been away from the house for a night and yet it felt like a week. She missed the girls terribly, especially Emmy. In Sophia's eyes, Emmy would be the one to carry on her legacy and mor importantly, they'd be sister for life.
The security guard smiled at her, leaning in for a kiss on the cheek which was politely given by Sophia. A few seconds of friendly chit chat and Soph was told that Emmy was already inside. Thank god. There was nothing worse than waiting at a bar by yourself. It was like creep central. As soon as she entered the whole vibe took over. The music pumped, people were everywhere and she spotted Emmy right away. It was hard for the Sophomore not to stand out really. Emmy was so beautiful it amazed Soph at times. Walking over to the other blonde, Soph smiled widely at her, leaning in to give her a big hug and kiss on the cheek. "Hey gorgeous" she greeted her over the music, "You look to die for" she gushed, taking in Emmy's appearance. Outfit was fabulous. Makeup was flawless. Hair was perfect. Thankgod the Zeta's got Emmy and not the Alpha's. "Cocktails? I plan on getting very tipsy tonight" she informed her, gesturing to the bartender who practicaly ran towards the girls. Tipsy? More like drunk, a rare thing for Soph whose main priority was looking after her sisterse. With that bitch Cecelia constantly breathing down her neck however Soph needed to let off some steam.

life is good today, life is good today. While she stood, waiting for her blond best friend to make an appearance, Emmy was startled when someone tapped her on the shoulder. When she looked to her left there was a young man standing beside her, his hand was extended towards her and he was nodding his head in the direction of the dance floor. She recognized his face, Emmy never forgot a face, and this guy worked at the coffee shop right outside campus. She was actually very good at remembering names as well but, for whatever reason this one escaped her. "No thank you. I'm here with someone." Her voice was nearly at a shout, in order to rise above the music. He'd heard her, but he brushed off her declination and proceeded in trying to convince her to dance. What is it with men? It's like they enter a night club, and all of a sudden their brains can't register the word NO. She rolled her eyes, clearly annoyed, and turned her back towards him. If that wasn't a hint, she didn't know what was. As she turned from him, she saw Sophia approaching, and let out a tiny squeal of excitement. "Soph!" She smiled, accepting and returning the older girls' hug with emphasis. Sophia complimented her as they separated, and Emmy beamed at her with a wink. "I know." She said smiling. It sounded completely vain, but Sophia was used to Emmy's self centered comments by now, and she knew she meant no harm by them. "I love your top, it's a Reiss right? I think I have it in pink." She squinted her eyes and leaned in to examine the shirt closer, "yep. That's the one." It wasn't surprising that Emmy had a shirt like Sophia's, Emmy had duplicates of all the latest and hottest fashions, hanging in her spacious closet at Zeta house. The larger rooms were typically reserved for Senior sisters. But, Emmy being social chair, and the President's best friend, her room (and closet) were marginally larger than most of the our sisters'. "I'm parched. Totally dying for some Forbidden Fruit." The Forbidden Fruit Cocktail was a personal favorite of Emmy's, and she ordered it every time they went to Shimmer. It was a relatively expensive beverage choice, not that it mattered in any way. It was a fruity and tipsy-inducing blend of lemon juice, Pimm's No. 1, apple Brandy, Ginger beer, and a few dashes of various bitters. She always ordered it at Shimmer, because they garnished the drink with a few slices of fresh lemons and limes, which made it all that much better. The bartender was beside them in no time, and Emmy placed her order before turning to Sophia. "What are you getting, Soph?" Once Sophia had ordered, and the bartender rushed off to get their drinks of choice, Emmy threw her arms around Sophia's neck again, still completely excited to be by her side after the week she'd spent home with her parents and sister. She loved her family, they were all so close and got along so well. She and her half sister, Vivi, were practically inseparable. But, here, on campus, Sophia was her Vivi. Her sister, her best friend. And she missed her when they went their separate ways for any longer than 24 hours. She had no idea what she was going to do when Soph graduated this coming summer. Still hugging her, she turned to speak in her ear over the music. "How was your break? Do anything exciting?"life is good today, life is good today. template by FAY @ ED and HC stealing makes the baby Jesus cry.

Sophia appeared to have come just at the right time as some sleazy guy finally gave up his pursuit of Emmy. There was nothing worse than being hit on by someone in a club in Soph's opinion. Then again she was alot more romantic than most college students. That or just alot less drunk and horny. All the creepy guys in the club were soon forgotten though as soon as the girls saw one another. It was a storm of hugs and laughs. Anyone would think they hadn't seen each other for months or years but no, it had simply been a week. When you spent every day with someone though, just a few days apart seemed like a life time. Sophia and Emmy were two fo the closest girls she knew of and she felt like they had alot of catching up to do.
She looked down at her top for a moment paying no attention to Emmy's little moment of vanity. She'd grown accustomed to it and saw it as no big issue. So what if the girl felt good about herself? She was gorgeous and had every right to. Soph could only dream of having that much confidence. She shrugged in response, "I think so, I found it in my closet at my parents" she replied. It wouldn't have supried her either that Emmy had one just like it. Sophia didn't care too much about labels. Her family weren't rich and every designer item she owned had been worked for. Not to say her closet wasn't packed full, it just wasn't littered with Chanel or YSL. That was a perk of living in a soroity though. You didn't have one closet, you had the closet of every girl in your house too and it wasn't uncommon to be swapping items all over the place. Sophia and Emmy were two of the biggest offenders.
There really wasn't a need for Soph to even ask what Emmy was drinking. Having known the girl for the past two years Sophia knew exactly what she ordered everytime. They were out to have a good night and Soph was totally down to drink. She'd never been a huge party girl but when she was out on the town with her favourite blonde companion anything could happen. "Make that two" Sophia told the bartender with a smile, holding up two fingers. She could never decide on drinks, always changing her order each time she went out. It was much easier to follow in Emmy's footsteps and order something she knew she liked. Not to mention Forbidden Fruits were tasty and jam packed with booze.
Soph clung onto Emmy, letting out a giggle. She really was excited to see the girl again and actually have a girls night. If there was anyone to make some college years memories with, it was the girl right beside her. "I missed you!" she squealed, taking a long sip of her drink right after. "My break was pretty good" she began, raising her voice over the loud music, "I spent most of my time with my family. Oh and trying to come up with some amazing new event to blow everyone out of the water" Soph smiled. Her break had been relaxing for the most part. She hated being away from her parents and brothers and despite speaking to them on the phone every night, it was a relief to spend some quality time with them. Sorority and college life were never far from her mind however and she had indeed spent a bit of time brainstorming ideas inbetween family time and hanging out with old highschool friends. "How about you babe?" she yelled a little louder, finishing off more of her drink. "How's Vivi and the family?" she asked, being fairly well acquainted with the Emmersons

life is good today, life is good today. "Trying?" Emmy asked, jokingly trying to make her tone sound genuinely confused. "Zeta house doesn't have to try, with us behind the social wheel." She winked, with a wide smile. While her little comment was a joke, it was fueled by a deep confidence in herself and the Zeta house, as well as her overly bloated ego. "I've got some things up my sleeve for this semester that'll knock the Alphas' socks off. Count on it." She moved to sit atop one of the nearby bar stools, gesturing for Soph to do the same. Glancing around, she noticed half the bar was staring at them, male and female alike. They were well known in San Francisco, even outside the university. Emmy waved and smiled in the direction of a few familiar faces, and offered eye rolls to those who were just goggling at the blond pair. "Same here. I don't think I even left my parents' house the entire time I was there. Not counting the few nights Vivi and I slipped out for some recreational party going, New York style, of course." She giggled, and turned as she noticed the bartender in her peripheral vision. He had two tall glasses in tow that were filled to the brim with her favorite citrus blend. She smiled at him, slipping him a twenty, which was far more than the drinks cost. But she didn't blink twice at a generous tip for a timely bartender. "It's hard though." She sighed, picking up the drinks and turning back to Soph, extending her arm out to offer the other girl her drink. "Leaving, I mean. I miss home. I miss Viv." Not to mention, back home, Cameron Richards' many conquests aren't mocking me in the halls on a daily basis. She thought glumly. life is good today, life is good today. template by FAY @ ED and HC stealing makes the baby Jesus cry.

"Thankgod!" Soph gushed dramatically at just the tiniest idea that Emmy may have. She knew Emmy was right. Teamed together the blondes were the ultimate team. They may not have been the nastiest of most manipulative girls out there but brilliant minds and a hard working ethic had seen them throw some amazing ideas. Sophia should have been ahppy with just that and usually she would have been. Sorority life ahd always been a fun adventure for her, something she'd just enjoyed rather than thought about. Lately she'd tapped into a competetive streak that she didn't even know she had. When faced with competetion from the stuck up girls at the Alpha house, Sophia just had to rely on herself and Emmy to win the war. With a bestfriend like Emmy by her side, how could she come up second best? "I know I've been so hell bent on being the best lately" she explained with a sigh, feeling rather guilty about it, "I just want to wipe that smug look of Cecelia's face". It was true and she knew she could tell Emmy the real reason why even though most of the campus was in the dark as to why the two presidents despised each other. They should have known really, when two girls fight it's always about a boy.
Soph paid absolutely no mind to the people staring at the girls and let Emmy take care of it in her usual fashion. She'd grown oblivious to the effect the pair had on other people. Growing up and throughout highschool life had always been so easy for Soph. She was blonde, pretty and a cheerleader. To an extent it had left her with a warped sense of the world. Everyone had always been so nice and accomidating and she'd though that was because she was a nice person, not because they wanted to sleep with her. Taking a long sip of her drink, she enjoyed the burst of flavour and honestly felt calmer. She listened as Emmy filled her in on her vacation, instantly feeling a little sorry for the girl. Sometimes Sophia forgot she was still relatively new to this living away from home thing. It was definitely hard for her to adjust to in her earlier years of college.
"I'm so jealous! I want to party in New York" Sophia pepped up a little. While she wasn't a huge party girl, the idea of New York was wonderful. The people were so varied and she really was jealous that Emmy got to return while Sophia had always been a San Fransico girl. She didn't want to dwell on how much Emmy missed home becaues tonight was about fun and seeing her friend homesick and sad would be anything but that. Raising her glass, she clinked it against Emmy's, "Cheers gorgeous" she toased, "To us and to Zeta!". Another amssive portion of her drink was gulped down at a pace that was quite unsual for Sophia. She was out to have fun though, right? "Gossip time" she clapped her hands together with excitement. She'd dance soon enough but she'd need a few more drinks so for now, she wanted some dirt. "So any hot guys in New York I should be hearing about?" she asked Emmy with a cheeky wink. The girl got attention from any male she passed so Soph was sure she had a few sparks flying in her love life.

life is good today, life is good today. "I know, I know. You love me." She grinned widely, and winked in Sophia's direction. "I'm thinking we put a new spin on an old favorite; Masquerade Ball. They're usually held in the fall, right? And last year, the Alphas beat us to it when they sent their announcement out a week before ours. So let's shake things up a bit, have it in the spring. We'll do a garden theme, have it outside. We'll get the local Nature Conservancy to sponsor it. The party goers will pay a hefty ticket price to get in, which will raise merry bunches of cash for the charity. And who wouldn't love a Masquerade Ball where the girls get to wear sexy little cocktail dresses in Spring colors instead of bulky gowns?" She knew her idea was great, and would surely earn the Zeta house huge bonus points with the general San Francisco public, what with rooting their events in a local charity and all. Not to mention, with Emmy and the other girls' combined allowances, the party wouldn't lack any of the elements needed to throw the party of the year. Emmy's nose crinkled at the mention of Cecelia. "That bitch won't even be on our radar this year." She assured her best friend as she listened to the rest of what she had to say. "There's nothing like a New York party, that's for sure. Next break, come home with me?" Sophia had already met Emmy's entire family, on the various occasions in which they had come to San Francisco and rented out a house on the beach to visit Emmy. Sophia was and would always be a welcomed guest in any of the Emmerson estates. She clinked glasses with the other blond, nodding her head in agreeance with the toast that Sophia had given. As she tilted her head back, she downed the entire glass of the strong, fruity beverage and licked her lips as she slid her empty glass down the bar, signaling the tender for a refill. "Um, gossip?" Emmy said nervously, glancing back in Soph's direction. "Guys?" Emmy brought a hand up to her nape, twisting and pulling at the hairs there. She was sure Sophia would recognize this as a sign of anxiety. Emmy knew it was only a matter of time before she would have to tell Sophia about what had happened with Cameron. She was just hoping they could avoid the topic until they got back to the Zeta house. Sighing, she leaned closer to Sophia, and her eyes dropped to the floor. "Soph. I, um, need to tell you something." She paused, wishing that her glass wasn't empty so she could take another swallow. "I saw Cam. The other day, in the hall at the female dorms. We talked, he told me everything. He told me about the other girls, after I saw him leaving some skankbot's dorm room.. butnotbeforehekissedmeandIlethimdoit." She blurted out the last bit, hoping maybe she wouldn't even hear it, though she knew it wasn't likely. She grimaced and looked up at her best friend through squinted eyes, bracing herself for Sophia's reaction, which was sure to be filled with anger, confusion, and disapproval. life is good today, life is good today. template by FAY @ ED and HC stealing makes the baby Jesus cry.

"Thankgod!" Sophia heard Emmy's plan and her face instantly lit up more than it had in weeks. Good, reliable Emmy. There was the reason she was the activities head of the Theta Sorority. It was such a competetive possition and so many girls took to sabotage and tricks to come out on top. Instead Emmy rose above it and put that brain of hers to work. A masquerade in the Spring was perfect. The outfits would indeed be cuter and much more fun and the settings could be glamourous and elegant without appearing stuffy. Not to mention they got the jump on the Alpha's. There was no way their little masquerade ball could even come close to the one the Zeta's would organise. "I can picture it now! You're seriously amazing" Sophia squealed with excitment and a sense of relief.
Her good mood was momentarily put on hold as soon as Emmy repeated Cecelia's name. Soph didn't hate people it just wasn't in her nature. Every single person had some good in them, they just needed to let it shine a little. Cecelia seemed to be the exception to Sophia's little theory though. She was nasty and manipulative and now that she thought about, Soph was pretty sure she'd never even seen the girl smile. She could however take comfort in the fact that Emmy depised the other girl aswell so bitching was always easy. Plus it made Soph feel alot better. "God I hope not. I seriously wish she'd dissappear" Sophia scowled, partly because she was talking about Ceceilia and partly because she hated hearing nasty things come out of her own mouth. It just didn't sound right.
The idea of New York was one that easily excited the girl. Vactaions were usually taken with her family. It was the few times they got to spend together now but when you went on vacation with your parents, everything seemed a little touristy. Asides from Spring Break and a few trips to Miami and Cabo, Soph had never been away with her girlfriends with just the intnetion to party. It sounded nice. Having Emmy as a tour guide would be fabulous too. "Count me in. I could definitely use some time outside of San Francisco" Sophia agreed, sipping on her drink lightly as she contemplated the idea. Seeing New York would be great actually. If she ever wanted to become a serious journalist, New York would be full of opportunities. She really was lucky to have Emmy as a bestfriend. "Shopping, clubbing and sight seeing sounds perfect. With you ofcourse" she giggled, selling herself either further on the idea.
Soph was feeling happy and at ease finally. She was a lightweight when it came to drinking and once drink put her in a wonderfully buzzed mood. Emmy's tone suddenly got serious however and Sophia sat up straight waiting for a bomb to hit. It could have been anything really. Maybe she was transferring to another college? Or something terrible had happened in New York? Sophia instantly wound herself up, dying for Emmy to tell her so she could stop stressing out like a moron. Well, atleast it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Cam. Sophia's face definitely wasn't smiling anymore as Emmy continued. She wasn't mad at her. Sophia knew better than anyone what it was like to have unresolved issues with an ex. Emmy and Cam had been together forever and Soph actually didn't mind Cam. What she did mind though was how Cam treated Emmy. It wasn't okay for Emmy to just run back to him. "Oh Ems," Sophia sighed, trying to hide her dissappointment, "What were you thinking?". Soph didn't know how she would handle the situation so she was trying hard not to judge but she thought Emmy would have more respect for herself. "Seriously babe? Kissing him after he's leaving another girls room? That's not really smart. Or hygenic" Soph added, thinking aloud more than anything. "Well, have you two figured things out or what/" she asked.
